This is a selection of some of the short stories that comprise the 12-part anthology.

Set in the 16th century on the frontiers of modern-day Paraguay, a young Guarani girl evades the pillage of her village and falls victim to the monsters in the woods.

1963. The height of the Cold War grips the US and Russia. At a lonely outpost, on the border between Siberia and Alaska in the Bering Strait, two US citizens are captured when their boat strays into Russian waters.

1975. The de-militarised zone between North and South Korea is one of the most tense regions in the world. When tunnelers begin burrowing deep into the ground to forge a surprise route into the South, they stumble across a cavern with unexpected consequences.
